I've got an error during the update of my Devialet Gemini

As Devialet Gemini evolves, new software updates will be available. To install a new update, make sure to have 10 to 15 minutes to complete the process.

Before starting the update, check in the App Store or Google Play that you are using the latest version of the Devialet Gemini app.

Sometimes an error may happen during the update of your earbuds and charging case. Below is a list of what to do if this happens:

 

Error 601 - Transmission error

Explanation: Some Android phones contain Bluetooth modifications that differ from the standards and can sometimes cause the application to fail to complete the update (99% failure). It is possible to clean the Bluetooth data from the phone in order to work around this problem. 

This error means that the Devialet Gemini application can not find one of the earbuds. It could be that the case was closed during the update, an earbud was removed from the case, or the phone was moved away from the earbuds.

 

Android:

If the error appeared during the firmware update of the left earbud when the update progress is at 99%, please follow the instructions below.

Please note that the following steps will erase the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth saved connections from your device:

  • Open your Phone Settings
  • Type "Reset" in the search bar
  • Select Reset Options
  • Select Reset Network Settings
  • Confirm the reset
  • Wait until the reset process is done.
  • Wait for a confirmation message from your phone to certify that the reset was done.
  • Slide open the charging case while keeping the earbuds inside.
  • Open the Bluetooth Settings on your phone
  • Press the front button of your chamber, till it blinks in white or blue.
  • On your mobile, go into the Bluetooth setting and search for the "Devialet Gemini" or "Gemini L".
  • Pair your mobile via Bluetooth to your Devialet Gemini and accept the pop-ups messages if some appear.
  • Open the Devialet Gemini App
  • Make sure that the chamber appears on the main screen, if it does not, take one earbud out of the charging case and put it back in.
  • Restart the update (visit this article for more details).
  • Be sure to accept all pairing requests during the update

iOS:

  • Remove the Devialet Gemini app from the running apps list.
    • Slide from bottom to top on your iPhone to make the list visible.
    • Then remove the Devialet Gemini app by swiping it (double tap the home button on your iPhone to make the list visible).
  • Open the Devialet Gemini app again.
  • Make sure that the chamber appears on the main screen, if it does not, take one earbud out and put it back in the case.
  • Restart the update (visit this article for more details).
  • Be sure to accept all pairing requests made during the upgrade.

Error 200

Explanation: It happens when the phone is not paired to both earbuds.

Resolution: 

  • Place your earbuds inside the charging case and leave the slider open.
  • Remove the Devialet Gemini app from the running apps list.
    • Slide from bottom to top on your iPhone to make the list visible.
    • Then remove the Devialet Gemini app by swiping it (double tap the home button on your iPhone to make the list visible).
  • Forget your Devialet Gemini earbuds from the Bluetooth settings of your phone.
  • Start pairing again making sure that both earbuds are paired to your phone: consult this article for more details (it is normal that only one of the two appear as directly connected, but both earbuds must be paired to your phone).
  • Open the Devialet Gemini App
  • Restart the update (visit this article for more details).
  • Be sure to accept all pairing requests during the update

Other Errors (502 - 512 - 520 - 521 etc.)

Explanation: These errors occurs when the phone is not correctly paired to both earbuds

Resolution:

Before moving forward, it’s highly recommended cleaning your earbuds and charging case to facilitate the physical connection between them once both earbuds are placed inside the charging case (more details are available here)

  • Place both earbuds inside the charging case and keep the slider open
  • Remove the Devialet Gemini app from the running apps list
    • Slide from bottom to top on your iPhone to make the list visible
    • Then remove the Devialet Gemini app by swiping it (double tap the home button on your iPhone to make the list visible)
  • Open the app and try updating again

If the issue remains: 

  • Open the Bluetooth settings of your phone and forget your Devialet Gemini earbuds.
  • Start pairing again making sure that both earbuds are paired to your phone please consult this article for more details (it is normal that only one of the two appear as connected to your phone)
  • Open the Devialet Gemini App
  • Restart the update (visit this article for more details).
  • Be sure to accept all pairing pop-up during the update

Error when updating the Case

Explanation: At the end of the update, the right earbud will set the charging case to "update" mode. It will then become inactive (no more LED reactions) for 3 to 5 minutes.

An error may occur if the right earbud was removed from the case during the update or the charging case was closed during the update.

Resolution:

In this state the charging case does not react at all (no LEDs light up), this is perfectly normal, please follow the instructions below:

  • Connect your charging case to the mains
  • Remove, and put back your earbuds inside the charging case.
  • Keep the charging case open
  • Wait for 10 to 15 minutes.

The update will then restart on its own without any further handling on your part. If you're charging case still doesn't react then do the following:

  • Remove the right earbud from the charging case and put it back inside
  • Keep the charging case open
  • Wait for 5 minutes.

Nothing happened when I pressed the button "Update in the Devialet Gemini app

Explanation: The requirements for starting the update of the earbuds are not fulfill

Resolution:

  • Check that you have at least 50% of the battery left in both earbuds and in the charging case, to do this, simply remove and place back both earbuds inside the charging case.
  • Make sure that the charging case appears on the main screen of the Devialet Gemini app. If it is not the case, take out and put back your earbuds in the case.
  • Restart the update (visit this article for more details).

The Gemini APP could not check for an update

Explanation: Our updates require internet access on the device used. Your phone or tablet is not connected to the Internet or our update servers are inaccessible at this time.

Resolution steps:

  • Make sure you are properly connected to the internet during the operation.

  • Please try the update again later.
