Dear Friends,

After receiving feedback from a number of you, we are working hard to address issues with Phantom Premier and the Spark app. Please know that we share your frustrations. For the most part, we have been able to isolate and fix bugs as and when they arise, but we’re aware of the need to work actively on minimizing future occurrences, often due to network instability. Today we wanted to update you on the measures we are implementing to guarantee the stability and longevity your Phantom Premier deserves.

Our engineers are in the process of developing an entirely new software ecosystem known as Devialet Operating System Version 2 (DOS2).

The aim being to:

  • Ensure your Phantom Premier remains open, robust and upgradable.
  • Continue meeting industry standards regarding streaming protocols and software.
  • Bring all of our products onto a single interface for compatibility and ease of use.

Phantom Reactor already runs on this new operating system, meaning that users can now select their preferred network interface (WiFi, PLC) and enjoy optimal stability in an always more varied network environment. The new Devialet app (available for iOS and Android) provides a clean and efficient user experience for Phantom Reactor, and has received very positive feedback from owners.

Though Spark may not have been updated for some time, it has by no means been sidelined. Our teams are wholeheartedly focused on providing you with the same effortless user experience for Phantom Premier. Before the year’s out, you’ll be able to upgrade to the new software ecosystem if you wish so. And for those of you who’d rather stick with your current preferences and features, you’ll be given the option to keep things just as they are. You’ll therefore have the option of upgrading as soon as the new operating system is released for Phantom Premier, or upgrading at a later date, whenever you’re ready, as new features become available.

As our earliest and most loyal customers, your satisfaction means a great deal to us. We’re always here to listen to your concerns and advise you on how to get the very best from the products you’ve invested in, today and tomorrow.

As soon as we have more news to share on upcoming developments, you’ll be the first to know.

Until then, warmest regards.

Olivier Sterenberg,

Head of Software Engineering

We all want the new software to be as perfect as possible before release and understand this takes time, What we would like to see is an honest statement of where abouts you are now in this process. its nice to be kept informed. Thank you.

The sad thing is that a lot of savy users don't use Spark at all, goes to bubble upnp,Ron and the rest.

Don't get me wrong the 🔊 is amazing and i truly love the sound.

But this days a good product needs a premium software. Aka Sonos.

    To the comment above...
Not sure Devialet is heading to this way, Premier phantom is a unique piece of sound.were asking for the software to be as much good as the product.

Will this update be for all existing premier phantoms or just a subset? Will I be forced to buy anything else to make my existing investment in Phantom Premier work?

I don't think you'll need to buy anything in order to upgrade.im actually sure about it (:
If you have two phantoms maybe you'll have can even sell your stereo paring device.

I am really stunned by the condescending tone of some of the above comments.

My recommendation would be to remove these from this list since they are adding zero value.

I enjoy every day listening to music through my Phantom Premiers.

It all depends on your expectations. If you dont expect much or you dont expect what other cheaper alternatives provide or you just need an amazing sounding speaker devialet Phantoms are amazing. If you need connectivity a to play all of your Hi-Res audio stored locally or to play Hi-Res audio via Tidal. Then your out of luck.
Use 3rd party apps that on android are really not up to a 2k speaker. I really dont know what else to say. I'm sure some will agree and some will disagree.

Thank you for your kind thoughts. I agree with your remark regarding expectations. However, I don’t understand your comments about connectivity. I’m using the Spark app for listening to radio stations and Qobuz. I’m also playing my cd collection from a nas in my home network, moreover I have my television connected to the dialog.

this brand is not delivering anything it is promising

    Speakers sound are great

    BUT apps are the worst!

    Connectivity is embarrassing!

Customer care is just useless... you don't know how to join them or receive any proper answer to your simple questions

If you want to buy DEVIALET... think about it twice!... the amount you pay for a service close to zero!

    Dear Jean-Baptiste,

Would you be so kind to share some more in-depth information regarding your comment "connectivity is embarrasing"?

FYI I'm still using the Spark app and the Dialog. My Phantoms are connected through PLC.

    Kind regards,

    Hello,

I am also still using the Spark app on mobile (iPhone and Android) and on a PC/windows, and the Dialog connected in PLC with 2 Phantom Gold, because I don't know what else to use to stream Qobuz in High Resolution to my Phantoms.

The sound is fabulous, but the Spark app is so terrible. I need to refresh it all the time to find out what is playing, Albums names and titles are missing letters, etc...  It loses the connection with the Dialog all the time and I need to re-boot the Dialog every other day, thus loosing my current playlist.

I am considering upgrading to the Devialet App and use my dialog as a paperweight :-), but I don't know which single app I could use to stream Qobuz in HiRes (from several devices), using UPnP on WiFi, I suppose, if the Dialog is not the streaming device anymore...

This means 2 or 3 different apps connectd in Wi-Fi with the Phantom, or buying a Chromecast audio or any other external network streamer connected on the optical input... Isn't what the Dialog was supposed to do in the first place ? Is there any way to reprogram it as a "working" HiRes network music streamer, running all streaming services ?

    I'm lost... Any recommendation ?

    Michel

My Devialet Silver Phantoms system became a lot more stabile after updating to DOS2. Maybe even rock solid, time will tell! The sound is really good!

But I miss Spark! Non of the options available now are as good as Spark. Even though Spark was far from perfect!

When I used Spark I could listen to radio and music all around my house. It was over Wi Fi! Really nice!

Now the device has to be in proximity of the Phanthoms. And changing between devices is almost impossible.

So I want Spark for DOS2!

I feel exactly the same it seems more stable now. That has come at a huge cost of no functionality. I find myself using other speakers more and more now and my Phantoms just gathering dust.
You need an app that needs another app that connects to another app to get what you want to play... it's a joke!

What is special is that the post above does not really give any clear answeres to the main questions. Like: Do they work on an updated Spark or on any solution that solves the app probmems? If they do, when can we expect Devialet has this solutions?

I asked a supporter if Devialet was working on a updated Spark or on any other similar solution. I got no answere.

    It is very frustrating!

Is Devialet in some kind of financial troubble, that makes it impossible to solve these problems?

Hello, so are you going to release a new update for Spark anytime soon? The latest Android version dates back to 2017... I cannot update to dos2 (Zigbee owner), so the new Devialet app is not an option. Looking forward to your response. Best.
