How to make a Stereo set up with Phantom I or Phantom II?

This article will describe steps to follow to do a Stereo setup with Devialet Phantom I (Premier) or Phantom II (Reactor), but also how to split and merge an existing Phantom I or Phantom II stereo setup.

 

IMPORTANT - A stereo can be done with only the same products example: 1 Phantom I 108 dB Gold can be combined in Stereo with a Phantom I 108 dB Gold or Phantom I 108 dB Dark Chrome. The same goes for any Phantom II products - stereo is only possible with products with the same power (it can be mixed in colors between Black and White Products)

1.  HOW TO run a stereo setup?

 

2 Options are possible: Setting up two Phantom II or adding another Phantom II  into an existing setup with one Phantom Phantom II

 

Setting up two Phantom

 

1. Plug each Phantom II into the power outlet
2. Await that each Phantom II gets a solid green light
3. Open the Devialet app.
4. The app displays a black screen with SET UP NEW PRODUCT
5. Turn on wifi, localization (made mandatory by some apps store providers), and Bluetooth
6. The app will scan around to find out the Phantom II
7. Once devices are found, NEW LIFE FOUND will be displayed, with two cards, one for each Phantom
8. Select SET UP NOW on the first card
9. Select the room or type a room name
10. Enter your wifi password (make sure you had selected the right wifi first name).
11. CONNECTING message will be displayed
12. Touch the LINK button on the top of the shell of your Phantom II, then wait till Phantom's light switches to solid GREEN
13. CONNECTING will be displayed
14. THIS IS IT will be displayed, and then select Done. Congratulations your first Phantom II is now set up!
15. The app will then display WE’VE GOT COMPANY (1 remaining Phantom II).
16. Select SET UP NOW
17. Here you can select the same room as your first Phantom II, or associate this new Phantom II with a different room.
18. Select the same room name to make a Phantom's pair with the one you had already installed
19. The App will recommend you to make a stereo pair. (NOTE: you can also select NOT NOW if you want to do it later.)
20. Select CREATE A STEREO PAIR
21. Select the Left or Right icon based on where the Phantom II you are about to set up will be placed
22. CONNECTING will be displayed
23. Touch the LINK button on your Phantom II that has a solid GREEN light
24. CONNECTING will be displayed
25. The app will display CONNECTION MADE - LET'S PLAY
26. Tap on the DONE button on your phone
27. Congratulations, you are ready to play your Phantom II in Stereo!

Add an additional device from an existing setup.

 

1. Plug the new Phantom into the power outlet
2. Await that the new Phantom gets a solid green light.
3. Open the Devialet app
4. The app will display a WELCOME HOME message and the room you already set
5. Click on the SETTINGS WHEEL icon on the top left corner
6. Select ADD A NEW PRODUCT
7. The app will scan around in order to find the Phantom II.
8. Once the new Phantom II is found, The app will then display WE’VE GOT COMPANY
9. Select SET UP NOW
10. Here you can select the same room as the first Phantom, or select a different room.
11. Select the same room name for a stereo setup.
12. The App will recommend making a stereo pair. (Note: you can also select NOT NOW if you want to do it later.)
13. Select CREATE A STEREO PAIR
14. Select the Left or Right icon based on where the Phantom II you are about to set up will be placed
15. CONNECTING will be displayed
16. Touch the LINK button on your Phantom II
17. CONNECTING will be displayed
18. The app will display CONNECTION MADE - LET'S PLAY
19. Tap the DONE button

2. HOW TO split/merge with a pair of Phantom II in a stereo setup?

Merge 2 Phantom II (already set up in mono) in Stereo

 

1. Open the Devialet app
2. The app will display a WELCOME HOME message
3. Select one of the rooms you already set up (and then the app will display the volume wheel of this room)
4. Click on the SETTINGS icon on the top right corner
5. Select CONFIGURE STEREO PAIR
6. Select the room where the new Phantom will be added, and press NEXT
7. Select the Left or Right icon based on where the Phantom you are about to combine in stereo are
8. CONNECTING will be displayed
9. Touch the LINK button on the Phantom II
10. CONNECTING will be displayed
11. The app will display CONNECTION MADE > LET'S PLAY
12. Tap the DONE button on your phone's screen!
13. Congratulations your stereo setup is done.

Split two Phantom II that are in Stereo set up

 

1. Open Devialet app
2. The app will display a WELCOME HOME message
3. Select one of the room you already set up (and then the app will display the volume wheel of this room)
4. Click on the SETTINGS icon on the top right corner
5. The App will display CHANNELS with 2 boxes, one for each Phantom II (left and right)
6. Select SPLIT STEREO PAIR
7. A warning message will be displayed (confirm by selecting SPLIT)
8. Choose the room name for your first Phantom II
9. Choose the room name for your second Phantom II
10. CONNECTING will be displayed

3. FAQ

  

• I'm not able to setup a stereo on my Phantom system?

This can happen if both Phantoms (same goes for Phantom Premier) are not at the same firmware version. Here is the recommendation to fix this issue.

1. Do a separate room set up of your both devices
2. Go into the "Top Wheel" available on the welcome screen within the Devialet APP.
3. Select "Product Update" 
4. Wait till the update is finished
5. Go back into the Welcome screen
6. Select one of the room setups
7. Click on the setting of the room (Top Right on the volume knob page of the app)
8. Select then the option "Create a stereo pair" and follow the instructions.

 

• Can I switch the right Phantom II on the left and vice versa?
  • Yes, please follow the steps below:
    • Open the Devialet app
    • The app will display a screen WELCOME HOME
    • Select one of the rooms you already set up (and then the app will display the volume wheel of this room)
    • Click on the SETTINGS icon on the top right corner
    • The App will display CHANNELS with 2 boxes, one for each Phantom (left and right)
    • Between the 2 boxes there is a double arrow logo. Select it to switch Phantom II Left and Right

 

• Can I have 2 Phantom II in Stereo in several rooms of my house?
  • Yes,  you can set up new Phantom in other rooms, and put them in stereo.
  • You can now play the same tracks within your whole installation since our last update (Firmware 2.10)

 

• Do I need a Dialog when I have more than one Phantom II at home?
  • No, You do not need a Dialog with Phantom II, nor in stereo with Phantom II

 

• Can I add a 3rd device in my Living Room setup composed of two Phantom II?
  • You can only set 2 devices into a room, however, it's possible via the Devialet app to make multiroom (this is possible to play the same sound/music into 2 separate Room in the app composed by Phantom Premier)
