Hi

We are happy to announce a release candidate

Firmware 12.2.10 + DOS 2.2.0 RC3

Here is the changelog:

This version has not been validated yet by third parties (Apple and Spotify) and is not a commercial version.

As a result, if you wish to test this version, you will need to join our Expert Pro Beta Program here.

You will receive instructions on how to download and provide feedback by email. Also, please read the README.pdf included in the DOS-2.2.0-rc3_12.2.10.zip.

If you have already joined, you will soon receive an email with download instructions.

At any point, you may revert to our final 2.1.0  Firmware 12.1.2 version, which you will find in the "my account" section of our website.

    Hi Devialet-Team,

with this release I can´t play 24/192 kHz-Files via Devialet Air, so I returned to the last beta version.

I am using Audirvana Plus 3.2.6.

    Thanks for fixing the issue.

    God bless,

    Patrick

I too am unable to play 192/24 or DSD64 files because of bad stuttering. I use Roon/Air to play files from my NAS drive. All was well with the last beta, so I will return to this version.

    Firmware 12.2.10 + DOS 2.2.0 RC3 results in stuttering when I play 24/192 and 24/176.4 files via Roon/Air (Ethernet).

Same for me, doesn't work when playing hi-rez files thru AIR fixed Ethernet. Works fine though with USB. Sad, I was kind of hoping on fixed IP since that has sounded better in the past, pre CI

Upgraded to the firmware released on March 23, 2018 and problems popped up right off the bat.  My iOS export pro app on my iPhone was not connecting to my expert Pro 1000s, it is like it was not even on the same Wi-Fi network even though both the iPhone and the expert pros were on the same Wi-Fi network.  Then I launched Devialet Air on my iMac and it would not connect either.  Later both the air and the iPhone connected to the pro 1000s but the connection dropped again. It happened over and over again.

Tried playing music from Roon and it was stuttering with dropouts.  Totally exasperated, I went back to the firmware update released on February 5, 2018 and the whole problem was fixed right away.  This is a very bad release.

Oh come on! engineers at Devialet, do not you even thoroughly test the updates before you release them?  This one is a total disaster!

I upgraded the new firmware and tested for a day, nothing worse or nothing better compare with the last version. No problem to play 24/192, 24/176 and dsd file via devialet AIR.

For whom encountered the connection problem, have you try reset the ExpertPro once more after the upgrade?

    @Nick Tsang,

    Hi Nick,

Do you use Ethernet or another method of connection? Are you using Roon/Air or Devialet Air?  Using Ethernet and Roon/Air, my 192/24 and DSD 64 files continually stutter and drop out.

Hi Alex, I use Ethernet (wired) to connect my ExpertPro, I usually play music by Roon/Air (core on Synology NAS), no drop out for playing different album with different sampling rate whole day.

However, today I try to use the Devialet Air installed on my mac and play a movie via VLC, the sound drop out after few minutes. Then I try to use Qobuz desktop apps and play music via uPnP to my ExpertPro, it's fine with 16/44.1 and 24/96 album but drop out when I play 24/192 album.

Well, then it is not stable indeed. Seems Devialet better release a stable "April" version next month (next week).

Exactly the same problem as Dr Kazim. The ethernet connection via Air and uPnP connects for a second or two and then drops. Reconnects/drops continuously. Useless. Reported to Mathieu @ Devialet with a video. Reinstalled previous beta and all working again.

Either this was not tested or they uploaded the wrong files.

Hi - I concur with 24/192 not working also, This is a little disappointing considering Beta 12 would play all sample rates without problem.

    • Devialet AIR crashes when switching sampling frequency - NOT FIXED
    • Default name on network not always the same (AirPlay / UPnP) - NOT FIXED
    • Fixed IP address mode - NOT FIXED
    • tried WiFi with fixed IP address and lost all connections, even wired.

Benefit of RC3 - it sounds great! :)

    Hello,

Thank you for your feedback. Much appreciated, as always.

As you reported, there has been a software regression with 24/192 and 24/176 files via AIR in this release and our QA failed to report it. We are deeply sorry.

The problem has been identified and a fix has been issued. We will now go through an extensive QA process and will announce a new release here ASAP.

Ah, the joy of software development!

Have a nice day or evening and again, we apologize for the mishap.

Olivier, I reported an fatal AIR and uPnP error (reported by others on Devchat) that appears to be a config file problem, as AIR works with the factory default with no SD card loaded. Don't get replies from Mathieu. Has this also been identified and fixed?

    Dear Oliver,

I report a bug with analogue input.

Companion unit’s analogue input (pass through) doesn’t work.

Before CI upgrade, I used Companion unit’s Coax input with analogue pass thorough for AV receiver’s pre-out signal, but after CI upgrade, when I select the source(i.e. companion's analogue pass thorough input) from remote, Companion unit just shuts down.

     I tested both “DOS 2.2.0 beta12 + Firmware 12.2.6 - February 5th”,and "Firmware 12.2.10 + DOS 2.2.0 RC3 - March 23rd, but it isn’t fixed.

My home theater is temporary closing!

Could you solve this quickly or tell when it is fixed?

    Can you help please!!!

I had my 1000Pro upgraded to Core Infinity today in Perth (Australia). Now I have it home and have set-up in my standard configuration the Companion (right side) won't play any music. I have redid a brand new Configuration (see attached), and am currently running latest software (Firmware 12.2.10 + DOS 2.2.0 RC3).

Also the music will play for 10 seconds then just stops - nothing, and if I recycle through the different outputs UPnP, Airplay, etc., when it get's to the last one it shows the home screen (1000Pro Core Infinity) and the Pro shuts down.

To say I'm disappointed is a major understatement. Is there anyone within Devialet I can speak to regarding this, as at present my 1000Pro Core Infinity is as mich use as a house brick :(

    Cheers

    John

    John,

Are you playing through ROON/AIR - if so yes there is a problem. I experienced the same with the RC3 version and have reverted to Beta 12 which has cured it! I think that this is a known problem with the RC3 version - see Olivier's Post above.

    Suggest you try Beta 12.

I’ve loaded Beta12 back on to both SD Cards and update on both 250Pro’s and the link again not working on Companion. Shuts-down the 1000Pro after cycling through to USB (this always triggers a shutdown).

The RC3 files were the one’s downloaded via the Beta program, the same as the Beta 12 files. I did the download again for both releases just to make sure and the files are exactly the same as before (OSCA 0.18 for RC3 and 0.17 for Beta12). Coming up for five months after Core Infinity being released and the latest software is still full of bugs.

I’m giving up, it’s 2.00am here in Perth, Australia.

Had enough of this Core Infinity Upgrade, can’t play any music, total failure as far as I’m concerned.

    Hi John,

A complete “bummer” ! I have the 1000pro same as you, and run from a NUC via Ethernet, and apart from a few un explained hitches all seems to be working fine with beta 12. There were a few times  when I needed to completely un-plug both units to get them running in sync, but they seem to have settled down now. The SC3 was a complete disaster for me as ROON/AIR just would not connect at first and then after I re-installed the software, ran for a few seconds and then went into “stuttering” mode!! I gave up and re-installed beta 12. I have not tried inputs on the Companion, but I use a digital RCA interconnect between them, rather than a RCA to /AES/EBU so not too sure whether that is an issue with the CI board. I believe that there are some issues with the Configurator so this might still be problem - I have spoken to Mathieu about this, and understand that this might still be “work in progress”. I might try to Configure the Companion for an AES/EBU input to try my CD player into it and see if it works just as an experiment. All inputs on the Master seen to work OK - I use the phono, the USB, Ethernet, Digital and AES/EBU.

My SPDIF to AES cable has been in my system since I had my pair as D-Premiers, then upgraded to Pro's and never had any problem until now.

Also just now tried cycling through different outputs using the iPhone remote and doesn't matter what I pick (AIR, USB, Spotify, Airplay, etc.) it shuts down the Pro. Only when I turn on the Pro will it stay on (I have mine set to go onto TV), so I can't change to any input except for TV.

If this forum wasn't so open a platform I would go to town on what I think of the CI Upgrade, but am trying to be calm (but boiling inside). Now I've only one of my 250Pro's that works for a 1000Pro, and even then I can only listen to my TV, nothing else.

The 1000Pro is the most expensive product Devialet sell, but the customer support is ......... I got better service when I took my $100 iron back to the shop after it had issues (given a brand new unit). Not expecting that to happen with a 1000Pro, but to initiate the Core Infinity upgrades with so many bugs in the software just seems PR disaster to me. Some may have had good experiences with the CI Upgrade, so not saying everything like me, but for a $49,900RRP here in Australia I would expect a looooooooot better experience than I've had.

This is an upgrade, are you kidding!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Cheers

After a little bit of reflection and reading everybody’s issues they’ve faced with the new firmware upgrade, the state of affairs is worrisome and downright disgruntling. This equipment is the cost of an entrée level BMW 3 series and one would expect a lot better service/performance from it. I have to admit that my confidence is shaken and I am wondering “what next?” How does one protect one’s investment?

I'm using the previous beta (RC3 was a complete fail) and my main bugbear is that from standby the iOS remote app and uPnP only works after powering down the machine completely. Effectively, the Configurator has to be rebooted. It would presumably be simple to include a Configurator reboot when coming out of standby. I've sent reports and not had any reply.

Fortunately I have a PS Audio power plant, so the first thing I do is use the web interface on my phone to power the Devialet off and on.

The good news is that I used to use a full Aries streamer and QNAP. Thanks to the CI reclocking I find the Aries Mini with a third party PSU just as good and have my music on a 1TB SSD fitted inside it. Sold the full Aries. So the CI streaming card is not doing what it's meant to be doing, but with a small Aries streamer attached by USB I have excellent high quality sound without any faults.

I'm a pretty patient sort of bloke, but for me RC3 had me starting to lose faith. The Dev Expert is such a superb product in may respects, my family also love using it whereas they previously thought the stereo was a waste of space, it is tragic that Dev can't sort out the software.

My younger son had some friends round Saturday, I came in and they had the Anthony Joshua fight playing through the stereo. It felt like being ringside!

Rather than going into lots of words below is the sequence of events from my trials last night:

    1. Deleted all files on SD Cards
    2. Cleared Trash Folder
    3. Added new config file (1 per SD Card)
    4. Load new config onto amps
    5. Only Master powering up (says on Companion 'Link Status - None')
    6. Re-tried 3 times and still no Companion powering up
    7. Noticed Beta12 loaded on both Pro’s
    8. Loaded RC3 onto SD Cards
    9. Uploaded RC3 to both Pro’s
    10. Restarted with both Master & Companion now powering up
    11. Sound only plays through the speaker connected to the Companion – Master speaker doesn’t play any sound
    12. Sub-Woofer doesn’t play any sound
    13. If I pull out trigger cable Pro’s shutdown (this is normal and should do this)
    14. Can cycle through all inputs without any shutdown
    15. When playing TV (Optical 2) it keeps playing
    16. Switch to Spotify, starts playing for 10 seconds then shutdowns both Pro’s and reboots back to TV (Optical 2)
    17. Switch to Airplay, starts playing for 10 seconds then shutdowns both Pro’s and reboots back to TV (Optical 2)
    18. Switch to Air, starts playing for 10 seconds then shutdowns both Pro’s and reboots back to TV (Optical 2)
    19. All above with RC3
    20. Unsure about loading Beat12 as step 3 above would only play Master
    21. Had enough after 1.00am last and will try again tonight

    Regards

The first Core Infinity Log on 17th October 2017 said this:

"The Core Infinity board is now in its final version. Our engineers are currently finalizing the initial public software version for a November 7th release."

Five months on and the comments above are depressing.

Even worse is that sixteen days on from people reporting that this release is full of faults we have nothing. As Dr Kazim says:

"After a little bit of reflection and reading everybody’s issues they’ve faced with the new firmware upgrade, the state of affairs is worrisome and downright disgruntling. This equipment is the cost of an entrée level BMW 3 series and one would expect a lot better service/performance from it."

    Olivier, in defence, said:

"Have a nice day or evening and again, we apologize for the mishap."

... but at this pace I think he meant fortnight ... or month.

    Hello IAN,
I share your frustration and concern
I also spent between the purchase of my
devialet D200 and its upgrade the price
of a car for this amplifier.

Air never worked at home and I thought
the update in 220 would solve the problem.

Not only the quality of the sound has not
really progressed but in addition 4 months
after the installation of CI nothing works
and I wonder if it will work one day.

I do not understand how you can sell
a device without making sure it works
    perfectly.
I really feel like I have a bad deal.

    Hi Francois

I remember when the Expert Pro range was launched in July 2016 by Devialet's lead engineer, Mathieu Pernot, at the Oxford Audio event in the UK. Mathieu said that the CI feature would be ready by the end of June 2017.

As we all know, it was not and Monsieur Sannie announced (on this log site) that it would be ready by mid-November 2017 - four and a half months late. Here we are five months later and we still do not have a functioning CI board. Rather like we never had a fully functional AIR feature (mine is very stable on ethernet but not on wifi) which Monsieur Sannie also promised.

Of course, now Monsieur Sannie is no longer CEO - so maybe his successor will honour the promises made, fully and swiftly. At the moment we have, as you say, a bad deal.

Mine is a 440pro CI and I mainly listen to phono. So I may not face so many problems like the other users especially those using 1000. But I do feel frustration when Devialet made a promise, could not make it but would not say sorry and explain what it is going on and why delay. It really hurts our feeling.

Hello to Paris. I wonder if the new CEO would say something here in this thread - whatever topic he likes to. It will be an important sign that the Devialet management really cares about us the end users. Remember the 'Devialet loves you'.

We are always asked to give our feedback but Devialet seldom gives response. It is not good.
