    Bonjour,

There's no bitaccurate setting in beta 3.0 for Win like on the previous versions.
Already had to change the default device twice to my desktop speakers because Windows changed the Devialet AIR device as default device so youtube video's and other Windows sounds started playing through my main speakers.

    [Windows 10 / Foobar2000 (WASAPI (v2.1) Devialet AIR / 16bit setting / 16bit/44kHz flac-file) / AIR-Ethernet [wireless computer to router - wired router to devialet]

edit: Installed the latest WASAPI drivers for Foobar and using event mode now. Now it's not possible anymore to play YouTube and Windows sounds now though the music playing on the Devialet (even when setting AIR as default playback device). So that seems solved for me now! :-)

@CY thanks for your feedback and update. For bitaccurate setting I need to talk with our dev team for more details (this is still a beta on which some additional elements can be added before the final release).

Not really a problem as such but if I bring up the recording devices dialog whilst playing music I immediately get white noise.

This is on Windows 10 Pro, using foobar in wasapi event mode.

Others have confirmed it's the same for them.

If I disable the Devialet Air Microphone device in the recording devices tab then the problem goes away.  I didn't think AIR could work to record anyway.

This might be useful to you for diagnostic work, it's not a problem for me.

The feel is so good we can talk direct and have the response of Devialet on the official website. It is definitely a good start.

I'm having the same problem as CY above ...

"Already had to change the default device twice to my desktop speakers because Windows changed the Devialet AIR device as default device so youtube video's and other Windows sounds started playing through my main speakers."

It changes the default audio device the first time AIR connects each time the amp is booted up.  After the amp is booted up and the default device is changed back it no longer changes the default when AIR connects, until the amp is shut down and restarted.

It should never change the default audio device, at least not without an explicit option requesting it to do so.

On Mac Mini with DevialetAIR-3.0-release-candidate installed on it, when I play the tracks from different albums (using Audirvana Plus), it does not  pass to the next song and play it if  it's in a different album(Devaialet Air Ethernet). I MANUALLY PRESS stop and then play button on the song to play it(the driver should first be released and then triggered again)..

But when I change the driver from AIR Ethernet to Devialet USB Audio 2.0 (everything else is the same), it works as expected, passes to the next track and plays it even if that next song is in another album.

Thanks all for your message - I'm going to review all points raised. I need first to try reproducing the issue and see with our dev team the reasons behind (to finally find a way to solve or workaround efficiently the issues)

As this is summer time, please give us time to sync up internally and do not expect immediate answer. But for sure you will have response.Hope you understand.

same goes for post review, we will try to get a weekly review at least

btw what is your overall feedback/feeling on this last beta version?

    Thanks Sebastien!

We are very happy to see your quick replies here. And ofc we understand it takes time to solve any problems. No worries!

My feedback: my Devialet never sounded as good as it does now. Really love the soundquality of the Win beta version. Beats my (crappy) USB by far. Much more transparency, airyness, depth & decay. Also a less digital, more analog feel to it then the previous AIR version. Others have reported this as well.

Playing various bitrates without a single crash or even a hickup now for 48hrs. [through ethernet as described above]. So far it looks like you guys have nailed it! Will be playing music non-stop for a few weeks more and will let you know if anything weird occurs. Thanks again!

please also beta test this against the new macOS Sierra ... nothing worse than when a new operating system comes out and you find out AIR stops you from upgrading to Apple's latest operating system... macOS Sierra is available now so shouldn't be any excuses for not being prepared when it comes out in september

    Mac version.

No DSD 64 playback - static only

RoonServer (latest), exclusive mode, integer mode, DSD DoP

    Mac mini 2012 2.5ghz i5, OS X 10.9.5

    Le 200, wired Ethernet.

Edited to add: three hours of Highres material (same setup as above) resulted in noise artefacts - a throbbing/distorted sound as per issues with AIR2. It seems like exactly the same problems persist. No other streaming solution has failed to run faultlessly on my gigabit network.

Will try your next release, meanwhile I'll stick with Roons RAAT and Chromecast, since both work perfectly.

    Hi,

I'm using Windows 10 on a Sony Vaio tablet PC. Streaming through Deezer local app and/or website. My device is a devialet 120 which wired to the network while my PC uses wireless connection.

I have noticed two issues so far:

1- the devialet Air is disabled each time I pause the music or when YouTube is moving from a video to the next one. Then I need to re start the Air through task pad.

2- there is a high frequency tick that I hear on all the songs. Just like the ones you used hear on old phonos. It is not load and doesn't have any specific rhythm. Sounds like a lost bit.

    Thanks,

I am experiencing audible clicks / ticks in relatively frequent but irregular time intervals. This occurs regardless of sample rate and bit depth between 44.1 - 192 kHz and 16 - 24 bit.

Operating system: Windows 10 Home (64-bit)
    Computer: HP Envy Notebook
    CPU: Intel Core i7 6500U 2.50GHz
    RAM: 8.00GB
    Firewall/antivirus: F-Secure
AIR target device settings: buffering 1000 ms, always stream automatic
Audio player: JRiver Media Center 22
Audio player settings: AIR Wasapi, event mode, exclusive access, bitdepth automatic, buffering 100 ms, play files from memory
Computer used for any kind of CPU / bandwidth consuming task while playing? No
Network used for any kind of bandwidth consuming task while playing? No, dedicated network
    Audio data chain: NAS > Ethernet > Router > WiFi > PC > WiFi > Router > Ethernet > Devialet 200
Distance between PC and WiFi-router: approx 3 meters

    Dear all,

    Some answers on my side.

@Peter, Thanks for the feedback- I share it with the team (it's very encouraging), we will indeed try AIR Sierra before issuing the final release. More to come

@Uroš Kositer - sorry, no Linux version at the moment in the pipeline.

@Patrik, thanks for the feedback, our Customer service and support team is handling your demand through the ticket you have opened this week.

@Armin - we are starting the test phase - could you please tell me for the second point what is the sample rate set for Air (cf. screenshot below), as I'm suspecting the same issue as Patrick. thanks for your feedback

@ hifi_swlon - We will try to reproduce the issue with DSD

    @ Sebastien:

What's the right Windows Playback Devices setting for Speakers Devialet AIR > Properties > Advanced?

Mine is at 16 bit, 44100 Hz / Allow application to take exclusive control of this device: ON / Give exclusive mode applications priority: ON

Foobar Output is set to WASAPI Event Mode / 24bit.

    Thanks!

    Hi Armin,

Thanks for the feedback - it seems that Patrick does not get this issue while streaming with a 16 bits - 44100 Ghz (CD quality). Same goes for me I did not get crackling sounds with this bitrate/samplerate.

Can you try this below test? this might point us to an application which can generate trouble with air

    1. Press windows key + R the "Run" window will appear
    2. Type msconfig and press enter key
    3. Select “Selective Startup” on the main tab
    4. Untick the option “Load startup items” apply the change and reboot your pc as asked.
    5. Make few listenning session in CD Quality or upper bitrate/samplerate to see if the same crackling appears

This "Selective startup" will not load your application during the windows boot and avoid application to use CPU on your computer while playing or to other apps to interfeer with Air (in this case this will help to understand if there is an application conflicting with Air such as anti-virus which are generating strange behavior with other apps a lot of time)

More details on the “how to” in case you need info: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/929135

to revert your normal boot – please do the following:

    1. Press windows keys + R the "Run" window will appear
    2. Type msconfig and press the enter key
    3. Select "Normal setup"
    4. Apply the change and reboot.
    5. You will find your usual apps loaded as normally expected

Please let us know what this test gave you as results. If there is no more "phono like" sounds while streaming it means probably that in your "nomal" boot there is an application which generating this issue. If you have still this issue, then we need to look at this from a different angle.

    Thanks Armin for your feedback.

    Hello Sebastian,

I did as you asked and I can still hear the ticks in all bit rates and frequencies.

One thing I noticed is that it becomes worst when the music has a wider range of frequencies. For example when it is only a high frequency instrument like violin playing, you rarely hear it but as soon as bass or drums start playing you can hear it clearly.

The other thing I noticed is the higher the bit rate and frequency set, the more unstable the Air app becomes. For example at 24 bit, 19200 Hz, the app disables every 30seconds.

Please listen to Arcane in Spiritual Evolution and you should be able to clearly hear the ticks in between the Instruments.

Feedback - Release Candidate AIR3 on Mac. Only issue is with DSD64 playback as noted earlier - using DoP results in hiss in background as music is playing, otherwise it has been flawless for me. No drop puts, all sample rates work, thank you.

Windows AIR3 Beta - this has been flawless for me and DSD64 playback works perfectly. This is running Windows 10.

    • DevialetAIR 3.0 release candidate (for Mac)
    • D-Premiers x 2
    • Wi-Fi, signal strength -43dBm
    • Mac mini (late 2012) 2.5GHz i5, OS X 10.11.6, 8Gb Ram, 500Gb HDD
    • RoonServer (1.2, build 154), exclusive mode, integer mode, DSD DoP
    • AIR 3.0 Target Device Buffer – 1000ms

AIR runs for approx. 20-30 minutes then D-Premier WiFi shuts down. I try and restart, but it won’t (or at best only restarts 1 in 50). AIR still shows

When AIR3.0 is running it sounds great, I don’t have White Noise issue, but just the shutting down of D-Premier Wi-Fi.

    I play all res files, 14 & 24 bit, 44.1/96/192/DSD DoP.

Play music via Roon, Audirvana Plus, iTunes, etc. from Mac Mini to D-Premiers, either via Toslink or USB to S/PDIF Converter and it never stops playing any type of file.

Hope you can fix Mac AIR3.0, as seems is if Windows AIR3.0 has less issues, and Devialet seems to be answering more questions relating to Windows issues and less for Mac AIR3.0

    Appreciate your help.

    Thanks John

    Hi,

A little update on my problem with frequent clicks:

I have listened over the weekend about a total of ten hours almost without the previously reported frequent clicks.

No changes is made in the playback chain...

I may also add that I think that AIR 3 sounds excellent.

    Best regards,

    • Resync Delay 1.5s.
    • Use exclusive Mode
    • Use Integer Mode
    • Use Max Hardware Buffer Size
    • Use Power of 2 Hardware Buffer Size
    • Max sample rate - up to 192khz
    • Max Bits per sample - disable
    • DSD playback strategy - convert to PCM

Well, after 5 days of using AIR 3 beta for Windows working perfectly and sounding very good indeed, I ran into white noise this evening. It occurred after maybe 30 minutes of playing 192/24 music. Now, yesterday, I played several hi-res albums in a row with no problem, but this evening, AIR raised it's ugly, noisy head. It sounds the same as the white noise of v2.13 -- abrupt and definitely louder than the volume of the music that was playing. I could not stop it via the Roon app control so I went to the desktop computer running Roonserver and AIR and disabled the AIR application to kill the noise.

Note  - I'm running AIR 3 beta on a i7 CPU desktop computer with 16g ram and SSD.  It's running the most up-to-date version of Win 10.  The computer is running Roonserver, but is used very little for anything else. Both the computer and my Devialet 200 are connected to my LAN via ethernet (not using wifi).

How will we know if/when you update the beta software?

    Hi,

I am also experiencing audible clicks/pops on hi-res streaming (24-96 or 24-192) same as Armin and Patrik on Devialet AIR 3.0 public beta.

16-44.1 material looks like playing fine without pops/clicks.

I've also tried what Sebastien suggested, disable "load startup items" but without luck, pops are there.

I'm running desktop PC, i5 3570, 16GB RAM, system on SSD, music database on HDD. PC and D120 LAN wired to router (CAT7).

    System: Windows 7 ultimate

    Player: JRiver 20

    Best regards,

    Tomislav
