Happy New Year to you!

Here comes

Expert Pro-2.2.0 Beta10 - Firmware 12.2.2

Our team has been working hard through the holidays on fixing issues from previous beta release.

It comes with features of our release candidate:

  • Full support of all physical inputs
  • full support of current configurator
  • Air (including Roon with Air)
  • UPnP Renderer

and as with previous Beta, only better:

  • AirPlay® (beta)
  • Spotify Connect (beta)

This version has not been validated yet by third parties (Apple and Spotify) and is not a commercial version.

As a result, if you wish to test this version, you will need to join our Expert Pro Beta Program here.

If you have already joined, you will soon receive an email with download instructions.

You will receive instructions on how to download and provide feedback by email. Also, please read the README.pdf included in the DOS-2.2.0-beta10_12.2.2.zip.

At any point, you may revert to our final 2.1.0  Firmware 12.1.2 version, which you will find in the "my account" section of our website.

Having reported various faults in the previous version, it would be helpful to have a log of the faults that have been fixed and modifications made. This is normal for any beta software or indeed a full version update and virtually everyone else does it.

    The Read Me file says:

"Via Air and UPnP, 176,4 kHz files, including DSD 64, are not supported by Companion."

Can you explain what this means? So far, upnp at 24/96 is proving stable, not a single dropout yet, but 24/192 can only play 60 seconds or so without stopping. Are you saying 176.4 and 192 are not yet expected to work? (DSD is not supported by bubble upnp anyway.)

Fortunately bubble upnp has settings for maximum bit rates, so using Qobuz that has a lot of 24/192 files, setting the maximum but rate to 24/96 has eliminated dropouts.

Can you please fix the clicks and pops (sounds like static on a vinyl record) when using the USB input. This seems to be an issue with sources that have their own onboard clock. For example I am using the SOTM-200 Ultra that has a sCLK-EX clock. Prior to the Core Infinity board upgrade the issue did not exist. Looking forward to the next firmware release hoping the issue is resolved. Thank you.

Could we please have a log of what has been fixed and what remains to be fixed; what works and what does not work.

This should be as extensive as possible so that the log is not followed by lots of questions which Devialet then chose not to answer. As has bee the case so far.

I've asked for this before but with no response. All very disappointing.

If you would rather Devialet users abandon the Expert Pro and go off and buy a product by another manufacturer, just say so. That's the behaviour it could be said that you are encouraging.

I don't see Devialet as Spotify device on my phone or Mac for Spotify connect.

I can play music with Roon AIR from my Mac, so Devialet is connected to the network. Devialet is connected via Ethernet to Google wifi pod.

I see that it you browse the Devialet IP address you get to a configurator that has some basic functionality and a means to update firmware wirelessly. Is this new to the beta and is it meant to be tested?

Well done Qlivier and Devialet. Thank you.

One can very rarely over-inform customers - whereas under-informing can create much annoyance.

This changlog for the Expert Pro covers 26 things you have corrected or improved which is such an improvement in the standard and extensiveness of updates you have done in the past. Congratulations.

Keep it up! And next time maybe you can add a similar section on "things we know about and still need to fix". Obviously some customers will have other issues which might be a fault of their particular installation, so you can never satisfy all customers all of the time. But if you can get to 95% and 100% and deal directly with those customers who have installation-specific problems, that would, I am sure, please all of us. Even me.

Do others experience this problem in beta 10 too? Not going into standby mode after some time of inactive - which happened automatically till then.

    Hi Markus,

Have you set power delays in “ power saving” in the General setting of your Configuration?

I find no way to turn off the display on my Devaliet after Core Infinity install. I use MacMini with Roon and ethernet cabling. No WiFi. I have turned on autodim (6 seconds) on all inputs, also WiFi even if it is turned off. And ethernet input of course. Other inputs autodim as before and turn off display, but not with my main source Roon AIR. The display is on all the time. And I want it to turn off after some seconds.

    Something I do wrong?

Why do we need to set display autodim separate for all inputs? For me this can be set in one menu only. Different setting for each inputs seems like overkill, but thats just me.

Update: everything is working now after installing the firmware again.

    ----

My problem is that the 220pro is not showing up as an Airplay or Spotify device in my network. It is connected to the network as I can see it in my router settings. I also don't have any problems to stream to the 220pro with my macbook pro either over the Air plug-in or directly over Roon.

I did change the input setting on the 220pro to Spotify and Airplay respectively (which is also displayed in the 220pro display). I also rebooted the 220pro once, but that did not help either.

An additional problem is that the Devialet app on my iphone has problems finding the 220pro as well and is directly loosing connection again if it finds it at all; so currently not really usable.

Hi - can you please advise when this will become a formal release?

Now roon and Devialet both recognise each other and both have there own support drivers, is there any conflict in driver configuration and/or does one driver take precedent over the other?

    My system is:

220pro /Ethernet/switch/Ethernet/ QNAP with RoonServer. I do not use WiFi other than for the iPad for roon remote.

    Regards,

Just installed 12.2.2 beta. all sounds superb and working well.

    A few observations thus far:

My inputs are roon and optical only. I don't use Spotify or Apple AirPlay, I use TIDAL though roon and the TV is connected via optical to the 220 Pro.

When cycling through the inputs i now have to go through:

    Spotify

    Apple AirPlay

    uPnP

to get to the only two inputs i use which are:

    Devialet AIR

    Optical

On the previous firmware and config settings i had just the two inputs to flick between, this should still be a configurable option.

    Hope that's some useful feedback.

    Regards,

    Raj

I've observed the following behavior with both FW 11.x and 12.x beta version:
if I play a number of tracks sequentially, there is complete silence after they finish (as it should be). However, if I then replay a track, or play a new one, when if finishes, there is a click/pop sound - not very loud, but clearly audible. This had not been the case with the old board. Is this something that can be fixed?
FYI: I stream from JRiver using AIR. I used my headphones to verify this sound is not a JRiver artifact.
